2011 Street Lit Book Award Medal Winners (2010 publications)

The Street Lit Book Award Medal Committee comprises of a group of volunteer librarians and library workers from across the U.S. who work with Street Lit and its readers in public and school libraries. The Committee collected, discussed, and nominated titles based on library patron popularity, book club interest, and overall reception of the story as a valuable addition to the Street Literature genre. Three rounds of nominations resulted in the winners for 2010 publications.

The last couple of weeks have just flown by!  While I was on vacation, I had to the opportunity to read and order several books online.  There's nothing like laying on a beach reading in peace and quiet without anyone calling your name!  Here a couple of books I'm really excited about that I wanted to share with you.

Upgrade U by NiNi Simone - Simone does it again in this latest installment featuring Seven and Josiah.  The teens, now in college, experience freedom and learn some life lessons along the way.  The characters Courtney and Big Country kept me laughing throughout the story.

Just Read - Adult
Heartbreak of a Hustler's Wife by Nikki Turner - another installment in the popular series featuring Des and Yarni with the introduction of Desember, the long lost daughter of Des.  Nikki Turner wrote this book after experiencing a severe car accident.


On My Nightstand - Teen Reads

Losing Romeo by A.J. Byrd

Losing Romeo, by A.J. Byrd - the sequel to Chasing Romeo - the drama continues with girlfriends Kierra, Anjenai and Tyler as they learn about dating and love.

Famous by Simone Bryant - the sequel to Fabulous - the Pacesetters are back again creating havoc at Pace Academy.

Midnight and the Meaning of Love

Mystify by Artist Arthur - the sequel to Manifest.  Paranormal fans will enjoy this selection.

On My Nightstand - Adult Reads
Midnight and the Meaning of Love by Sister Souljah - Midnight goes to Japan to rescue his bride Akemi.

Black Friday by Ashley and JaQuavis - currently reading this fast paced story about everything that could go wrong when prying eyes are watching.
